based upon theatre or musical parody in which pieces were
adopted in a more risque and satirical style base in the London
theatre scene.
Our current
Burlesque trend was launched in the 1990s updating traditional
burlesque with a wider genre of performance styles including
classic striptease, modern dance, comedy dance and circus
trapeze. The focus is on the tease rather than pure striptease
with a concentration on style and retro type costumes.
Burlesque has swept America and the UK with recent performers such as Dita Von Teese generating a wave of fans both professional and
amateur playing very much to mixed audiences.
